Log Surface Preparation
Proper restoration starts with removing old, failing finishes and preparing the wood for a new protective coating. Depending on the condition of your log home, we use media blasting, chemical stripping or sanding to remove deteriorated coatings, followed by cleaning to address dirt, mildew and staining.
Crack & Check Sealing
Cracks and checks in logs can allow water to penetrate the wood and lead to deterioration over time. We fill and seal open areas with flexible chinking or sealants designed to move naturally with the wood as it expands and contracts throughout the seasons.
Staining & Sealing
Once the logs are properly prepared, we apply high-quality stains or clear sealers designed specifically for log homes. These breathable finishes help protect the wood from moisture and UV damage while allowing its natural grain and character to remain visible.

What to Expect From Your Log Home Restoration
Every log home is different, so the restoration process starts with evaluating the condition of the logs and the existing finish. We look for weathering, failing stain or coatings, cracks, deteriorated chinking and other areas that may need attention before deciding what preparation and products the home needs.
From there, we clean and prepare the logs, remove loose or failing finishes as needed and address cracks, gaps and chinking repairs that are part of the project. Once the wood is properly prepared and dry, we apply the appropriate stain, sealer or protective finish to restore the appearance of the logs and help protect them from moisture, sun and weather.
Throughout the project, our crew takes care to protect the areas around your home, keep the job site organized and clean up at the end of each day. Once the restoration is complete, we inspect the finished work and make sure the details are taken care of before wrapping up the project.
